Resolved Question: What are the % chance that estrogen will cause lung cancer?
Speaking of Hormone Replacement Therapy moreResolved Question: Why is it that when I get hungry...?
I shake really bad and I'm really thirsty? It started when I started taking birth control pills for hormone replacement therapy because my body doesn't produce estrogen. I'm 24. Could I have diabetes from this? I also cannot think clearly when hungry. I'm 123ibs and 5'6. If I eat cereal I get a low blood sugar attack(even the healthiest kinds of cereal). If I eat any breakfast food I am hungry within two hours instead of 5. Such as eggs. moreResolved Question: why hasnt my doctor discussed hormone replacement therapy?
I have pcos (polycystic ovary syndrome). I am 20 years old and want to try and get pregnant in three years with my hubby. Anyways I'm currently taking metformin which is suposed to help pcos. but im wondering why if i have high estrogen and low progesterone and very high androgens why my doc hasnt considered hormone therapy. ive brought it up a few times but she seemed to skip over the issue. im very concerned if i dont get my hormones balanced that my low progesterone will cause me to repeatedly miscarry and even if i do get pregnant that i wont be able to breastfeed. also the acne and facial hair issues are demoralizing and i heard hormone therapy would have a profound affect. ALSO im interested in using bioidentical hormones instead of synthetic. does anybody know more about this? moreResolved Question: Does hormone replacement therapy cause weight gain and/or breast growth?
I may have to go on HRT depending on the results of my estrogen/estrodiol (progesterone was already found to be low) test and am wondering if it causes bodily changes like the aforementioned? Albeit, I could stand to gain a little bit of weight but would rather not have it be as a side-effect of medication. I'm still very young, only 20 years old, and why this happened to me remains a mystery. Thanks all. moreResolved Question: Breast cancer and hormone-replacement therapy studies?
I am writing a paper about the effects of estrogen and progestin hormone therapy from point and counter points. Though most say that there is controversy I am finding only evidence in support of in causing. I am looking for something credited and have been searching for a while. If any of you would know of a study I would greatly appreciate it. If not I will keep looking. Look I know that now there is no reason in second guessing, but a few years ago before the WHI randomized study there was other studies. Those would suffice. Thanks for everyone that was helping me; presistance does work and I finally found one with good cridentials and a peer review. moreResolved Question: Women. Hormone replacement therapy. Yes or No?
I'm 51 and was just told I'm in post menopause, I had about 3-4 weeks of night sweats and now have no symptoms other than that I no longer menstruate. My Gyn said that most experts agree on no HRT unless needed. He said to make sure and take 1200 to1500 mg calcium a day and exercise. Also to get a bone density test in a year. Does this sound right to you? I thought that the right amt of estrogen was needed to protect your heart etc.. Any opinions/advice/personal experiences would be appreciated. moreResolved Question: Pregnancy with Turner's Syndrome.?
hi i just found out that i have turner's syndrome the same time i was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. and my parents never told me in my whole life i have turners syndrome. i was always wondering why i was so different. at least if they told me i would know why...but whatever. so my question is if im currently taking estrogen replacement therapy what are the chances it will actually work [give me a normal menstrual cycle]. and if that is the case, what are the chances of me being able to have my own biological children normally [not through in vito]. i guess my question is, if the estrogen therapy works will i be "cured". i know this isn't the best place to be asking these questions but i just really want to know now. if anyone has the answers please help me. i have really been depressed about this. moreResolved Question: Why (and specifically how) does taking synthetic estrogen raise one's risk of developing blood clots?
This is assuming that it is done properly and with medical supervision, of course. (Ie: taking either opposed/unopposed hormone replacement therapy, or the birth control pill.) moreResolved Question: I started Testosterone Replacement Therapy- should my doctor have given me an estrogen blocker?

I'm going through menopause and I'm wondering if I will be able to take estrogen replacement therapy with CKD (nephritis - GFR 50%). Is it too dangerous? Also I think i might have PMS. does that happen when you start young? moreResolved Question: A question for the ladies of all ages....?
Do you believe in or trust hormone replacement therapy? I'm 39 and starting to feel the first signs of menopause. I recently had to have a hysterectomy but I requested that my ovaries be spared. And they were. My BFF is 48 years old and refuses to give up her estrogen shots. She had a total hysterectomy 20 years ago. I tend to believe in letting nature take it's course. I know some of the risks and benefits of HRT, but I would like to hear some opinions from you women. moreResolved Question: Christians questions about dating and stuff?
have this rare disease where I didn't reach puberty until age 23 thanks to a birth control pill I started in June for hormone replacement therapy. Don't produce estrogen without it. I didn't become sexually attracted to men until two months ago. Anyway since I want to save my virginity until marriage and since I understand how powerful lust and sexual arousal is, I don't trust myself. So here are the extremes I'm taking: No french kissing or cuddling if he's my boyfriend until I marry him. Also I won't confide in him as much as I confide in my best friend until I marry him. I also will not drink infront of men. I also won't hug guys unless it's a side hug and that's it. I won't let him rub my back and I won't do it to him either. I also won't ride alone in a car with an attractive guy because I don't trust myself if he'd make a move.(if he's unattractive and he makes a move, I'll stun him with a taser gun if he still persists after I yell NO!). Too extreme? why or why not? Is it too extreme for a Christian? They say that men take everything as a sexual invitation. So I guess excluding hugging, cuddling and kissing with tongue(without tongue is fine) and confiding in him is banned until marriage? Also if you are a Christian, how many dates did you wait before holding hands and then kissing and then cuddling? Thanks! Do you french kiss? do you cuddle? do you confide in your boyfriend before you married him? Then what is allowed and not allowed in a Christian dating relationship? Doesn't french kissing and cuddling lead to an uncontrollable urge to have sex? Could you please not use BOY???? Boy to me means males ages 2-17. I like MEN ages 28-40 please use MEN instead of boys. ew. moreResolved Question: whats better. Testosterone replacement therapy with gel or injections ? Should you use estrogen blockers ?

What causes EWCM? the rise in estrogen? the LH surge? or something else? (please more detail then "possible ovulation" if you know more since I have a unique situation). I am 27 and have premature ovarian failure (my ovaries don't function; although rare spontaneous ovulations can happen). Anyway I am on HRT (hormone replacement therapy) because of this. I've been on the HRT for almost a year. I've had creamy discharge return with estrogen but this is the first time in over a year that I've seen EWCM (the kind like raw egg whites that is clear and stretchy). So now I'm wondering what actually cause this to happen in the body? Thanks for the help :) moreResolved Question: Should I stop Taking the Birthcontrol Pill?
Been on Low dose BCP to help with heavy irregular periods caused by perimenopause it's working been on 4 mo but now have a little vaginal dryness, irritation and redness so I called the Dr in hopes of getting some cream to help the outside problem he wants me to finish this pack of BCP and start on Premphase (hormone replacement therapy HRT didn't work that's why I was put on the BCP) which is so many days of estrogen by itself and then days of progestin by itself which means a pill every day of the month. Thanks for your in put moreResolved Question: advice about pain around right ovary?
I'm 60 and on homone replacement therapy that consists of low dose estrogen patches and a vaginal ring. I use porgesteron supositories monthly to induce bleeding and avoid build up in my uterus. For the past 4 or 5 months I have experienced intermittent sharp pain around my right ovary during the time that I am bleeding. The pain comes for approximately 2 hours ususally 2-4 times over a 3 or 4 day period. The first time it happened I went to the emergency room because I thought I might have appendecitis. So far the doctors can't find the cause of the problem. I've had a vaginal ultrasound and the ovary looks fine. I would simply live with this, but when the pain does come it is severe and I can't sleep or if it is during the day, I need to lay down. Any suggestions of other things I should as about? moreResolved Question: Help me to solve this Organizational Behaviour question?

NOT TRUE!
Why does everyone think that a guys penis will shrink if he takes steroids?? SERIOUSLY. When you take steroids, you are replacing your natural testosterone (endogenous) with steroids (exogenous). This causes your natural testosterone to shut down, and to eventually stop producing any. Its a part of HOMEOSTASIS. Your body balances it out. This results in increased estrogen as well since testosterone aromatizes to estrogen. IF you do not take a proper ancillary (arimidex, aromasin) to control your estrogen levels, you will lose some sensitivity to your penis. If you DONT TAKE HCG (human chorionic gonadotropin) along with the exogenous test (steroids) then your BALLS will shrink, since that is where you normally and naturally produce testosterone, and now you arent. It does NOT affect the size of your penis!!!! Some people have "limp penis" from being shut down completly. Throw in some test and your good! HRT people - Hormone Replacement Therapy. Look it up! Steroids dont shrink your penis!!!! moreVoting Question: Mirena and menopause?

Is anyone out there currently using this method?? moreResolved Question: How did the drug Premarin come about ?
I am doing a research assignment on Premarin and am struggling to find any information on how it came about . I have found that scientists first discovered that they could extract estrogens from the urine of pregnant women back in the 1920's (for therapeutics). They then found that women and horse (mare) urine was very similar so started to extract estrogens from mare urine instead . Does anybody have any more information about the origins of this drug or any hormone replacement therapy relating to Premarin ? It has been almost 2 years since my last period, I am 53. I have frequent hot flashes and night sweats. I am always so uncomfortable and embarassed by the hot flashes at work. Other than hormone therapy, which I would rather stay away from, has anyone had any favorable experience with any holistic remedies or herbs, or anything that has helped them? We have 30 years together and not really wanting to toss in the towel but it looks like an option as time goes by. A year ago her doctor recommended low dose testerone & estrogen which she tried for 30 days and quit the testrone, she still takes estrogen. For those women who are or have taken testosterone as part of your HRT (harmeone replacement therapy) what side effects if any did you have? Good or bad? Every year, doctors prescribe hormone replacement therapy (HRT)—also referred to as menopausal hormone therapy—to hundreds of thousands of women experiencing menopausal symptoms. There are about 100 ranches in remote areas of North Dakota and Canada that house thousands of pregnant mares who produce urine for Premarin and Prempro.(1,2) For most of their 11-month pregnancies, these horses are confined to stalls so small that they cannot turn around or take more than one step in any direction. The animals must wear rubber urine-collection bags at all times, which causes chafing and lesions, and their drinking water is limited so that their urine will yield more concentrated estrogen. The fate of the thousands of foals born on PMU farms each year is equally disturbing. Some are used to replace their exhausted mothers. Some foals end up getting adopted while the rest (considered by-products) are sold and slaughtered at less than a year of age. If you'd like more info - check out a Yahoo! or Google search engine. Look up "cruelty of Premarin" or something along those lines. AND YES! THERE ARE ALTERNATIVES than Premarin. Duke, I'm not lying about the stalls or slaughtering. It's a reality. I'm almost 55 years old and stopped taking hormone replacement about 6 months ago, after having used estrogen patchs for about 7 years . I loved how I felt while taking it, but both my dr. and my husband wanted me to quit, 'cuz they were worried about the (very small) risk of breast cancer. Bottom line is that I just don't feel as well as I did before. I've lost a bit of my lust for life and quite a bit of my energy. But the worst part that I have developed a lot of pain in my hips - the muscles and ligaments. They hurt so bad that the pain wakes me up several times at night. My whole body feels stiff and achy. I've also gained weight - almost all in my belly, which hate with a passion! I'm very tempted to go back on hormone therapy. I've talked with some friends and co-workers about this, and most of them have either never stopped taking estrogen, or they went back on it due to the loss the feeling of well-being. Any advice? moreResolved Question: Do any other pharmacists think this THERACYL is fraudulent advertising?
It's another one of those sham concoctions hiding under the grandfathered "homeopathic" laws, what crap! This MUST be either direct hormone precursors (so they can lie and say it on ly "revitalizes" hormones) in a lipophilic formula to cross epidermal cell membranes meant to escape first pass metabolism--but the estrogen patch was found DANGEROUS because of this, and this compote contains progesterone estrogen and testosterone precursors. WHY doesn't the FDA crack down on these sham artists who don't take advantage of people? They lie saying that a woman's own estrogen her "natural" estrogen is not carcinogenic, only replacement---that's so FALSE, it's the cumulative amount of estrogen, estriol, estradiol, etc., that's linked with reproductive cancers. This "bioidentical" hormone lie has got to be revealed for what it is, it's nothing more or less than hormone replacement therapy, and THERACYL is just a more slick slimy scam on women. I'm a 20 year old who just found out that I have premature ovarian failure. Does anyone have any info on this? I read that only 8% of women with pof are able to conceive... can anyone confirm this? It's so devastating, but if I wanted to get pregnant in the future, I would want to use my own eggs and not a donors. I also have auto-immune problems with my thyroid, is there any advice for how to deal with all of this? I just read that soy is bad for people with thyroiditis, and I'm a vegetarian so I naturally try to eat a lot of soy... should I quit? And my doctor mentioned taking testosterone as well as estrogen if I start HRT... does anyone have experience with taking testosterone replacement therapy as a female? Thanks so much. moreResolved Question: DES and urinary incontinence?
Our 10 year old lab has had urinary incontinence for the last year. She was initially treated with antibiotics and then PPL, which worked until last April. Then she began piddling herself again. She has been on antibiotics which didn't work, then we let her take a break from the meds for awhile and just put a diaper on her. Now she just started on DES (estrogen replacement therapy). The vet put her on 1 mg capsule twice a week for 3 weeks, then once a week thereafter and see how it goes. But as I am reading up on this, I'm finding that typical treatment is a capsule daily for 3-5 days and then whatever will keep the dog dry after that. Am I wrong to question my vet or is this appropriate treatment? BTW, she just took her 2nd capsule and is still having a problem. How long does it take DES to take effect? She just had blood drawn this week. She is fairly solidly built for a 75 lb dog. She doesn't have a pot belly or look thin on top. Looks normal. She isn't spending any more time at the water bowl than normal. moreResolved Question: Hormone replacement Therapy...but no period???
I'm on 1 mg of oral Estradiol and 100 of oral progesterone, days 17-26. Haven't had a period on this regimen, but have been less bloated than when I've been on other regimens, like BC pills and estrogen patch. Help! moreResolved Question: Doctor's ONLY please...I am 16yrs remission breast cancer.?
I was stage 3, estrogen sensitive...I did 6 mos chemo (5 different drug...5fu, cytoxin, methotrexate, other 2?) I took tomxifen for 10 mos and stopped...I have NEVER had any hormonal replacement therapy of any kind. In 2003 a doctor put me on insulin (1 YR)& my wt shot up 85#'s. When I discovered this I made every change necessary to get off of the shots which I succeeded in doing and I've been off about 8-10 months..I've lost 25#'s just since Jan. My current A1C is 6.2...I take 10mg glucotrol xl, and for my thyroid I take levilthroxine 250 mcg. My question has to do with a prickly stinging sensation when I have been extra active....If I am going to get more weight off I really need to start working up a little sweat...right now I am only walking because I do have (scale 1-10) 7 level joint pain in my hips, knees, (roller skating acc in 1987). This feeling is quite painful and takes 20 -30 sec to subside. It's feels like needle pains (like falling on a cactus plant). Please help moreResolved Question: Ovarian cancer and ER/PR testing?
For sufferers of ovarian cancers and physicians/oncologists : Why are not all ovarian tumors tested for presence of the estrogen and progesterone receptors (ER and PR) ? Or are they (please tell where you are from) ? It seems like total aberration to me not to test, since women with ovarian cancer are almost systematically put on hormone replacement therapy (premarin) after total hysterectomy ! My best friend, who has ovarian cancer, insisted to have this test done at my suggestion, and guess what : her tumor was positive for both !!! By chance, she wasn't taking the prescribed premarin... moreResolved Question: re: bio idential hormone replacement therapy, can dhea, progesterone, or estrogen cause weight gain?
moreResolved Question: I am afraid to take "Estrogen Replacement Therapy" medication...I took it briefly when I started Menopause.
Other then having "Hot Flashes and Night Sweats"...I feel pretty good!...Is there anything to help this besides Prempro or other prescription medications? I have given up wearing makeup and even styling my hair...My hair starts to drip and droop and the makeup just washes off!....Help! moreResolved Question: I just started taking bio-identical hormones?
Last week, I went to see my doctor about taking hormone replacement therapy. I am in menopause (surgical menopause after hysterectomy) and I'm having a LOT of symptoms. I asked him for the hormones because I was having "quality of life" issues and really needed some hormones. He prescribed me bio-identical estrogen and progesterone. Bio-identical means they were plant based and they are NOT the synthetic hormones made from pregnant horse urine. Anyway, even those these hormones are non-synthetic, they still have risks because they are still hormones. If anyone here has experience with hormones or pharmacy or medicine, I would really appreciate your comments on this. My doctor gave me the presciption but he did ask me to sign a paper saying that I understood that taking these hormones puts me in a high risk category of getting breast cancer. Would appreciate your advice on this if you have some knowledge about this. Thanks, Robin moreEstrogen Replacement Therapy News
