Thinking of buying a remington 700. I've been looking at the website and their is so many rifles on their that look great but I cant pick one. I'm going into the army in a few years and have been hunting since I was young using .22's and anything around that range. I plan on hunting all north american game and doing a lot of long range shooting/practicing. So i am definitely considering a 30-06. Open Question: I need a .308 hunting rifle and scope?

Alright, like I said, I am looking for a hunting rifle in .308. The rifle needs to be a good hunting weight (around 6.5-7.5 pounds) because I am going to add a scope onto it. The rifle should be a reasonable price and preferably have a synthetic or all weather type stock. I don't think a heavy contour barrel would do. The barrell itself should be about 22 inches. For scopes I am looking at a Leupold vx-II in 3-9x40. I don't have to get one of those but something with a 40 mm objective in around 3-9 power. This also needs to be a reasonable price. Can you please help me out with any suggestions? Thanks. more

Open Question: Weird Airsoft Question and "Dilemma"?

Okay! Here we go. I have a JG Ika Zuchi Star Dragon whatever you wanna call it. Look it up if you don't know what it is. I play airsoft with friends that have descent guns but aren't top notch, like the JLS XM8 rifle, the Crossman Pulse R73, the Spring UTG Warhawk AK47 and even one of my friends who uses a JLS Cougar EBB in one hand and a TM Mac 11 EBB in the other. Those are good guns (i've been shot 100 feet away while running by the warhawk and it hurts!) but a JG AEG just blows them ALL out! So i've decided to sell it and buy a Crossman Airmag m50. Reasons why include that I won't have to have a battery charged, I won't have to lug around a 10 pound gun when all i need is a hand gun, I won't have the urge to spray in full auto and waist all my ammo, and I can just go to a friends house with my gun in one hand pop in a c02 tank and start playing, plus the battles will FINALLY be fair. Basically, it's easier and to me, more fun to have the m50. So, my question is: Is the Airmag M50 a good gun? I AM aware that is Semi Only, and can be modded easily to full auto I AM aware that it is crossman, which to some people makes the gun automatically suck (not to me) and I AM aware that it is significantally lower powered and accuracy is lower and round capacity is lower than my Ika Zuchi. more

I am looking to buy a tactical scope (Not a standard red dot, but I cant afford an ACOG) for my air rifle. I found a couple good illumination scopes for under $100, and they magnify 1x. I was wondering if 1x magnification is actually magnifying or if it is non-magnifying. I'm not quite sure if I should go for a 4x scope because I'm not shooting at anything small past 100 meters, so I was wondering if this 1x scope would do the trick. Thanks! I mean does the 1x scope make everything larger than life or does it look the same as eyesight? more

Im looking to purchase an SMG or Rifle-type airsoft gun, that shoots over 300 FPS. I was looking at the R76 Pulse from Crossman ( http://www.crosman.com/airsoft/premium/SAPR76 ), but people are saying the gears in this gun are plastic, and i need metal gears. Is there a gun out there $150 or under, that fits these needs? Ill go check out Dicks. The only problem with that M16 is there is no attachment rails. (And no charger/Battery). I think i can find a better price/gun. more

hi all, i was thinking about getting into reloading, but i don't really have a starting point. i would just like to start as a hobby so i can get some cheaper ammo. i would start to reload to feed my ar 15 which is .223, and eventually a .308 rifle. also i would reload a couple pistol calibers as well, these would include .38 special and 9mm. which reloading kit should i get? i was looking into lee single stage presses like the anniversary kit, lee breech lock challenger kit, and the lee classic turret press kit. which one of these should i buy. and maybe give me more suggestions on other cheap but good reloading kits. i do not want to spend a whole lot on a kit right now but i will eventually upgrade if i really get into high volume shooting. thanks for your help... ask if you have any questions. more

Will too much CLP lubricant mess up my AR-15? I enjoy shooting my rifle every weekend and the only thing I don't like about my AR-15 is that it jams sometimes on me. I be cleaning the guts out of it with plenty of Hoppe's solvent, cue tips, toothbrush, and bore cleaning kit. But it kept on jamming and someone asked me if I lubricated the bolt carrier group and the rails and I said "no". He said that an AR-15 works better when shot wet, I guess I put too much CLP on my AR last night. Is too much CLP bad for my gun? more

i live in Pennsylvania, and this is my first year hunting deer, i was looking at two rifles a Kimber Model 8400 Classic in a .30-06 and a Marlin Model 336W in a .30-30 i already have a marlin .22 that looks similar to that so i already know what the marlin would feel like in my hands(and three rabbits already know how deadly i am with it) . but i will probably be hunting other things like beer and elk before i die so i would need a higher caliber for them. right now i could only afford the marlin and i need a lot more for the kimber, and i'm to young to get a job so i doubt i could get the money for it and a scope in time. should i get the marlin now or should i use my grandpa's rifle and save up for the kimber?? and NO i don't want any other type rifle! more

Open Question: Would you like to hear my observations on the Yankees?

As some of you know I'm not a Yankee fan. We get Yankee home games here (in manila) on ESPN Asia....would you agree with my assessment of the current team? Previously I said they could go to the Series..I'm sticking to that. Sabathia..shame his win total doesn't reflect the way he's pitching..the guy is an absolute gamer no problem throwing well over 100 pitches. good stuff, not great, the main asset is all the pitches are thrown hard in the low to mid 90's..breaking down and away from the hitter. Burnett..great stuff, better than CC, throws harder...but doesn't have great command always. Can't imagine him getting many complete games because he's throwing too many pitches. Rivera..I'm shocked a little...when his stuff isn't working(cut fastballs mostly)..he's hanging the ball over the middle of the plate..for me he's lost a little velocity. He worries me at the moment. The way the ball is being driven with power off Rivera, tells me something is not right. ARod..wow..his plate discipline is very poor..he will chase pitches out of the strike zone..but with his swing, if he gets the right pitch he hits it. With the power of his swing i guess it's difficult to hold up..but a top pitcher could get him out. Teixeira..for me, great hitter..really drives the ball hard..and he has some discipline on which pitch to hit. Damon..you know what..if not for a bad arm and he's still in CF he's really a great player. But it's different when he can only play LF or DH. I like the way he can still still hit for average, power and steal bases..the bad arm holds him back from being ine of the all time greats..but he's still very good. Matsui..yet to regain old form..because he and Damon and Posada need time at DH, it migh create a problem. Better off letting him go and getting an oufielder..but hard to move his contract. Swisher, disclaimer, never liked the guy. Had a nice start to the season hitting over .400 with power. That's down to .240, with less power. Too many strikeouts. when you play for the Yankees, of course you are going to get a few RBI's..and some fans will idolise you. Even at another club I doubt if he would be starting...a decent option on the bench only. Jeter..it tells you what a great player when he has to bat lead off and he still does a respectable job. Although I think he's a better batting second. It's well known he lost a step in the field, but still possessses a rifle arm..let's keep him..lol. How about the Yankee fans. Do you agree with me? more

Open Question: Which is the strongest/best bolt action rifle to use in Call Of Duty:World At War?

The Mosin Nagant seems to feel the most powerful as it only takes one body shot to kill someone usually. Plus, I've managed to get quite a few '2 kills, one bullet' kills with it. The PTRS-41 is supposed to have max damage but seems to take two body shots to kill someone. Plus, the recoil is ridiculous making semi-automatic capabilities pointless on it. more

Open Question: EoTech Red Dot on AR?

I have a EoTech red dot sight on my AR now I sighted it in at 25meters which is the recommended distance because the bullet will hit in the same place at 25 meters as 300 meters, now I can hit a target pretty much dead on at 25 meters and maybe .5-3/4 moa at 50 yards so im pretty good at 50 yards as well. Will my rifle hit a target at 300 meters? more
